Joseph is a passionate and dedicated writer who loves to take his readers to places.they've never been. He believes that good writing can change the world and strives to make a positive impact through his work.
A student of history and literature, Joseph is a firm believer in the words of Spanish philosopher, George Santayana, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”
...a novelist, reviewer, dad to two spoiled cats, lifelong Yankee fan, long-suffering New York Knicks fan, and according to his wife, "the best husband ever and an all-around great guy."
Joseph Sciuto was born and raised in New York City. He spent his early years listening to his Italian-American grandmother’s vivid stories and the stories of the neighborhood guys in their daily pickup basketball games.
His grandmother's stories were about his close-knit family who worked hard and succeeded...proudly living the American dream.
Her stories live on in his writing today....
His grandmother told young Joseph how his family helped build much of the impressive Manhattan skyline, including the Empire State Building.
She told him how hard those who came before worked so that his generation would have an opportunity to succeed...
Fulfilling his family's dreams, Joseph attended college and holds degrees from John Jay College of Criminal Justice and Stony Brook University and a certificate in film studies from NYU, with majors in psychology, film, theater, literature and English.
Receiving a scholarship for his master' degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, Joseph Sciuto...a die-hard New Yorker...relocated to Tinseltown
Many of Joseph’s books are based on his 30+ years in Hollywood and his characters frequently “live” in his neighborhood in Los Angeles’s San Fernando Valley.
Sciuto splits his time between Los Angeles, Manhattan and Kentucky where he lives with his wife and two spoiled cats, Bette and Bogie.
In honor of their grandmothers , Joseph Sciuto and his wife, Hollywood studio veteran and writer, Melissa J.L. Smith, are collaborating on a collection of short stories including some passed down to them by their grandmothers.
The rescue cats, Bette (named after Bette Davis) and Bogie (after Humphrey Bogart), do not think cats ever can be spoiled enough.
Growing up in the Bronx, Joseph Sciuto takes pride that his hometown team, the New York Yankees, has won the World Series more than twice as often as its closest rival for the title.
A long-tormented New York Knicks fan, Sciuto still holds onto hope (and his Willis Reed action figure) that someday the Knicks may emerge from the basketball basement.
Luckily, a buddy with MSG connections was able to host a pickup game for his friends, and Joseph had a chance to experience a lifelong dream of playing at the Garden.
